US Duplicity with Pakistan

US Duplicity with Pakistan:
During his trip to Islamabad on April 20 this year, while praising Pakistan’s military operations against the militants, US Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen blamed in an interview with a private TV channel that “Pakistan’s perceived foot-dragging in tackling strongholds in North Waziristan belonging to the Haqqani network and its continuing relationship with it was the most difficult part of the US-Pakistani relationship. He further revealed, “The ISI has a long-standing relationship with the Haqqani network. That doesn’t mean everyone in the ISI, but it’s there…Haqqani is supporting, funding, training fighters that are killing Americans and killing coalition partners” in Afghanistan.

In this context, on the one hand Admiral Mullen has admired the efforts of Pakistan’s Army in relation to war on terror, while on the other has shown his stereotype-thinking and blame game against Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. His interview indicates US previous self-contradiction and duplicity regarding Pakistan.

It is notable that despite Pakistan’s successful military operations against the Taliban militants and scarifies of country’s security forces including losses in political, economic and social terms in connection with war against terrorism,  Washington wants Islamabad to do more, and to take military action against the Haqqani group in North Waziristan.         US Duplicity with Pakistan:                                                  Read More

Why Pakistan Wants Stability in Afghanistan?

Why Pakistan Wants Stability in Afghanistan:A Joint Commission of Pakistan and Afghanistan was formed on April 16 this year for facilitating and promoting reconciliation and peace which will include all the Afghans so that whenever the US and NATO troops withdraw from Afghanistan, the situation in Afghanistan does not turn into another destruction or civil war. In this regard, it is for the first time that Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’s visit to Kabul also included Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Director General Inter Service Intelligence, Ahmed Shuja Pasha, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and other high officials in whose presence negotiations took place. Afghan President Hamid Karzai described the parleys as “historic”, saying that “the two countries stand together as they have shared destinies.”

Notably, Pakistan’s civil and military high officials have repeatedly been saying that a stable, viable and prosperous Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan. On February 1, 2010, while making clear that his country had no interest in “controlling” Afghanistan, Gen. Kayani had reiterated that Pakistan wants a peaceful, stable and friendly Afghanistan, adding, “We cannot wish for Afghanistan anything that we don’t wish for Pakistan.”

On April 1, last year, Pakistan’s former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while giving a statement on the concluded Pak-US strategic dialogue also said that Islamabad “has conveyed to the US that it has legitimate concerns in Afghanistan to which the country could not remain oblivious.”

India and Israel Damage the US Interests

India and Israel Damage the US Interests:
After the September 11, India and Israel which had openly jumped on Bush’s anti-terrorism enterprise are acting upon a secret diplomacy, targeting whole of the Islamic World in general and Pakistan, China, Iran, Libya and Syria in particular. Thus these two countries are damaging the US interests on regional and global level.

It is of particular attention that Jewish-Hindu lobbies are collectively working in America and other European countries to manipulate the double standards of the west in relation to terrorism and human rights vis-à-vis Pakistan, Iran and China. Both India and Israel consider Pakistan and Iran as their enemies due to Islamabad’s nuclear assets and Tehran’s prospective nuclear programme which are also opposed by the US. In this regard, when in the recent past, Iran test-fired Shahab 3, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of up to 2,000 km, Israel openly and India clandestinely took it as a greater threat to their collective interests. Although, Iran denied link between the missile firing and the nuclear activities, but Washington speculated that besides Israel, the regional target which Iran intended to attack was India where America and Israel are investing and increasing their presence.      India and Israel Damage the US Interests:                                                                                                                                  Read Ful Story

The Siege of Pakistan Continues

The Siege of Pakistan Continues:
But in the modern era of globalization and technology, a rival country can be besieged through some different tactics which include various subversive acts conducted in that country by a single country or a number of countries which want to obtain their joint selfish goals.

In these terms, although our country has been facing multiple crises of grave nature, yet the same have been intensified by the foreign enemies recently as part of the siege of Pakistan. At present, Pakistan and its security forces are facing suicide attacks, bomb blasts, sectarian violence, drone attacks and targeted-killings coupled with intermittent battles with the militants.

In this respect, on April 3 this year, a double bomb suicide attack outside a shrine in Dera Ghazi Khan killed more than 40 people. On March 30, a suicide bomber struck a convoy carrying Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief in Charsadda, killing 12 people. In two days, it was the second attack against Maulana Fazlur Rehman who survived fortunately.

While in one of the major attacks, more than 40 civilians and policemen were killed when on March 18, 2011; an unmanned US aircraft fired four missiles into a building in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.
Although drone attacks have continued intermittently on Pakistan’s tribal areas in the last few years, which have killed many people, yet this strike was so lethal that on the same day, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani strongly condemned it as “unjustified and intolerable” and said it was a violation of human rights.   The Siege of Pakistan Continues:            Ful Story

US Failure in Afghanistan By Sajjad Shaukat

US Failure in Afghanistan:
Trust deficit continues between Pak-US relationships as from time to time, America continues its misperceptions and blame game regarding Pakistan. In this respect, on April 7, this year, the US administration in a report gave Congress a highly critical assessment of Pakistan’s efforts to defeat Al-Qaeda and other militants, saying that after years of work with the Pakistan military “there remains no clear path towards defeating the insurgency” that, what it claimed, thrives in the country. While emphasizing American old maxim to ‘do more’, the semi-annual report noted a deterioration of the situation in FATA, which—US officials believe has carved out a global headquarters in Pakistan’s border areas with Afghanistan. The report further added that operation in Mohmand Agency and Bajaur has not yielded any tangible result for the third time in two years.

As the report comes ahead of the strategy the American President is scheduled to announce in three months about start of withdrawal from Afghanistan, it is believed that leakage of the selected portions of the document is aimed at exerting more pressure on Pakistan in accordance with the known policy of ‘do more.’

WikiLeaks’ Misperceptions about Pakistan

Intermittently, WikiLeakscontinue its misperceptions about Pakistan as part of the old blame game of the west and anti-Pakistan countries. In this regard, on April 4, this year, while quoting a cable, dated November 28, 2008 from the US Embassy in London, this website has accused that until a day before the 26/11 Mumbai bombings, the view in the British Foreign Office was that Pakistan’sArmy Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had been a major obstacle to an India-Pakistan deal on Kashmir, as both the neighbours were close to signing a historic agreement on several occasions.

Every intellectual and non-intellectual person of the Sub-continent knows that India considers the occupied Kashmir as integral part of the Indian union; hence it has continuously been using delaying tactics in its solution. New Delhi’s intransigence remains the main obstacle in the settlement of Kashmirissue.

It is of particular attention that on June 27, 2009, Pakistan’s former President Pervez Musharraf had disclosed that he came near to resolving the Kashmir dispute during the infamous Agra summit in 2001. The then Indian Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had even agreed to draft a joint declaration regarding the Kashmir issue, but blamed New Delhi for ditching Islamabad at the last
moment.                                                  WikiLeaks’ Misperceptions about Pakistan:  Ful Story

Endless Movement of Kashmir

India claims that Kashmir movement has slowed down and the situation is returning towards normalization. But since the partition of the Sub-continent, after passing through various faces, this war of Kashmir’s liberation has become an endless movement which continues unabated.

As regards the latest phase of Indian state terrorism, like the past, intermittent curfews, crackdowns, arrests, detentions and massacre by the Indian forces have continued against the non-violent mass uprising (Intifada) of Kashmiris. Thus more than 3000 innocent people have been killed during this new phase of the struggle.

In this connection, on July 10, 2010, a rigid curfew was imposed in most of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK), while shops and businesses were closed and public transport was off the roads after the All Parties Hurriyat Conference declared a strike. During strike, none of the nearly 60 newspapers published from Srinagar for four days.

Rocked by intermittent violence and unrest, the intensification of the uprising in the Indian controlled Kashmir could be judged from the fact that the Valley is now facing the threat of a civil disobedience as seven senior civil and police officers have refused to take up their duties. A large number of officers have refused to accept challenging assignments in different districts including Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara and preferred being posted in relatively peaceful areas of the state.  Endless Movement of Kashmir:          Ful Story
